14. Dragonfly

Adaptability, presence, acceptance

Be present in the moment and enjoy the journey.

Dragonfly has beautiful, fast-moving wings that move independently, allowing her to change direction. This makes her a flexible, adaptable insect, moving acrobatically without losing composure. Dragonfly spends most of her life in her larval stage, moulting regularly until she is fully grown. Once able to fly, Dragonfly lives for only one week. Her song is therefore one of presence and acceptance, enjoying the good things when they happen despite the fact they may be fleeting. She doesn’t waste time mourning the fact that she only experiences her full potential briefly, but lives every day to the full, flying wherever the wind takes her.

Dragonfly is a reminder to be accepting of your life, the highs and the lows. Just like Dragonfly, you have the strength to adapt in adverse situations while remaining calm and composed. You can change direction quickly without getting flustered or overwhelmed. This ability allows you to welcome in new opportunities and say ‘yes’ to new paths that reveal themselves to you if they align with your goals. Be aware that you will go through many phases in the process of becoming your final form, all of them important and essential. Find patience and acceptance in the knowledge that life isn’t about the destination but rather the journey. And when you find moments of joy and beauty, be present and feel grateful, rather than worrying when it might end.
