26. RAIN

Renewal, cleansing, clarity

Clear away the old to make room for the new.

Rain is made up of water droplets that condense in the sky and fall to land, bringing fresh water to the earth. Rain is essential for life on our planet to thrive. Many landscapes and societies go through long periods of drought, where rainfall is scarce. When Rain finally returns, she brings with her relief. She waters the crops, filling the lakes and waterholes, allowing the cycle of life to continue. She also washes away the dust and dirt, cleansing the earth and offering a sense of renewal. She clears away the heavy, humid atmosphere and leaves a lightness and freshness in her wake. Rain’s song is therefore one of refreshment. She washes away the old and stagnant to make way for the new.

The appearance of Rain is a sign that it is time to start afresh. Things may have become stale and stagnant, and you will benefit from letting it all go and starting again with a clean slate. It is hard to continue growing if things feel stuck, so do something to shake things up a little. Perhaps you can let go of something or draw a line under your worries and begin again. If you have been feeling deprived of something, Rain is also a sign that there is some relief on its way to you. You may get some clarity in a situation which you have been uncertain or indecisive about. You should think clearly without letting emotions cloud your judgment, letting go of your attachments and releasing your need to control the uncontrollable. In time, all will become clear.
