Meditation for Creativity

Message
Creativity can be seen as the Fire of the spirit. It comes to each of us in different forms. Some people may enjoy creativity in more obvious artistic directions, such as writing, painting, or crafts. Others may excel at creative problem-solving or making their surroundings beautiful. You can create in an art studio, in the kitchen, or even in an office. The only limitations are those we impose upon ourselves. Not everyone has the inclination or talent to do everything, but each of us has something that we create through a combination of mind, heart, hands, and spirit. If you haven't yet discovered your creative gift, uncover it today.
Action
Create something. It doesn't matter what. Write a poem or a spell (don't worry, rhyming isn't necessary). Paint a picture, sculpt a pot, or knit something. Cook a delicious meal in the kitchen or change something in a room to make it more beautiful and comfortable. Don't tell yourself you don't have time or talent. Just do it. And, moreover, do it purposefully, mindfully, and with gratitude. Truly feel the creative process and how it nourishes the spirit and sustains the inner fire.
Prediction
If you're feeling sluggish or irritable, perhaps this card is trying to tell you that you're not dedicating enough time and energy to the creative part of your nature. After all, work is important, but we all need to balance it with moments of play. Look at this card and ask yourself: "What am I doing to nourish my soul?"
Magic
Light a red, orange, or white candle and invoke the goddess Brigid. She is the Celtic goddess of creativity and inspiration. She is known as the goddess of flame and well. Brigid possesses the cauldron of creativity. If you have a small cast iron cauldron, you can use it; otherwise, any clay bowl will do. Take scraps of paper and write down any creative forms of expression that interest you. (You don't have to be good at them — these are just things you enjoy doing.) Put the papers in the cauldron or bowl and stir them with your finger or a knife. Then ask Brigid for guidance and draw out a paper. Make time to do whatever you wrote down, even if it's just for an hour or less. If you wish, you can place the cauldron or bowl on your altar and draw another piece of paper each week.
