The Comforts of Friendship

The witches sip tea and talk of their dreams, whiling away the afternoon in the most pleasant companionship.

Some think that because she is alone in her work, there is loneliness — but this is not so. She has close friends of the soul who now and again turn up, and time is spent chatting, sharing memories, hopes, and desires. Their talk flows like the river, and laughter echoes around the room. Together they remember who they have been, and reimagine who they will become. Their craft, their herbs, and their wisdom are shared. Their stories, their support, and their love for each other have continued and evolved over years, and will endure. From time to time, they meet up and read for each other or stare into the bottom of their teacups, contemplate the shapes that emerge, and share these for each other. But most of all, they relax into the fullness of themselves. They are completely open to the experience of the others — their like-mindedness is not forced, and there is no censorship of mind and thoughts.
