The 8 of Cups is about moving on from something that we know in our bones isn't working anymore. We've invested so much hope and emotional energy trying to make it work, but it's just not. Things change, dreams change, people change, and that's okay. That's exactly right. The 8 of Cups invites us into the acceptance of this truth and into the emotional transition of departure, of walking away. This is not an easy thing—in fact it can feel like breaking your own damn heart—but this journey is necessary.

By leaving this once-cherished thing behind, we make ourselves available for what will work for us. By shedding the roles and dreams and identities that no longer fit us, we make space to grow into the next cycle of our being. By journeying into the unknown future, we move toward our heart's fulfillment. Leaving hurts, but staying will only hurt more.
