Story Description

The witch has gained much, the vessels of plenty sit around him, yet he is unsatisfied. He cannot appreciate what he has and he is doomed to wander the harsh shoreline in endless pursuit of that thing that can fill the void in his life. Even the radiant Sun, the symbol of everlasting success, is eclipsed by shadow behind him. There are some who wander this life purposeless, constantly chasing some unknowable thing that they believe will complete them and make them fulfilled, when they only need to look around them and find what they seek in what they already have.

Divinatory Meaning (Invoked)

The Eight of Vessels invoked signals that you are never satisfied with what you have. Perhaps you do not stay in the same place very long, are constantly moving around, forever ruining friendships and relationships that could have been fruitful. This card indicates that you do not appreciate the things you have or those around you; they are not good enough, they do not fill the emptiness within you. For you, this is because you believe these things and people to be trivial compared to your greater purpose, the quest you have set yourself on. Sadly, this quest is a fool's errand. You will not ever find what you are looking for because it does not exist. Take a look around you and actually appreciate the good things in your life.

Divinatory Meaning (Banished)

When banished, the Eight of Vessel's empty quest is also banished. You invest everything you can into the pursuit of success and your relationships. Right now your only priority is the material rather than the spiritual, and often your Spiritual Self is put on hold to focus on material matters. Find a balance and make sure you do not sacrifice spirituality on the altar of materialism. But other than that you are happy, excited about the prospects of love and friendship, and revel in the pleasures of life.
