Symbolism
The red skull with sprouts growing from its head represents the primordial energy of passion, movement, and fire—the so-called first impulse of growth. Flowers blooming from the eyes show the elemental nature of this suit, as 'fire burns in the eyes.' The centipede, already familiar from the Major Arcana, crawls away. There are no dogmas, prerequisites, or burdens. The mushrooms, despite their intricate root systems in the earth, show the same impulse of 'breaking through from within.' Since ancient times, the serpent has been associated with the phallus, both in biblical stories and in myths—a serpent tempter of sorts. It symbolizes possession, lust, movement, cunning, and wisdom. It wants to strike, to attack—again showing movement and sharpness. The spider web represents both the illusion that permeates all worldly things (according to Mayan mythology) and the symbol of the creative forces of the universe and creation according to Christian teachings, in which spiders (like the devil) lured sinners.

A carved red skull sits at the center of the image with stylized floral patterns and two yellow-orange flowers placed in its eye sockets. Thick red wand-like shoots rise upward from the top of the skull and are surrounded by large, deep-red leaves. A pale blue centipede crawls across the foreground among green grasses and twining roots, while mushrooms and tangled vines fill the midground. The sky above is a cool teal and bare branches frame the scene at the edges.
