Symbolism
Where the Four of Swords showed a coffin being nailed shut, the Seven reveals it has opened. The nail wasn't driven home after all. We see that the nails have multiplied, and orange marigolds show us that the person has risen, has awakened. The incense as a symbol of this element has already begun to smoke and heat up. The card is essentially a complete but slightly reimagined copy of the Four - simply compare them. The inscription reads 'hope reflexion' - reflection of hope. If we consider the coffin as a transition point, like a womb, then this reflection of hope is an internal state that we try to transmit into this world. There he sits, believing that now his hopes will be fulfilled and realized. All the Sevens in this deck are permeated with a certain futility regarding global changes and transformation into matter. What has been molded has already been molded. These are illusions of what seems to be. It seems to him that he is capable of changing something now, that his thoughts and will can be realized, but no. All efforts and impulses are already futile.
Card's Message
A person has certain schemes, ideas, and strategies that they believe will yield results. But no, this will lead to nothing. In relationships - a person may try to scheme or devise something now, but it's all contrived. In career - plans, ideas, and strategies will not lead to the expected result. In money matters - themes of deception, especially involving paperwork.
Visual Description
A skeletal figure in formal dark clothing sits on the edge of an open coffin, its bony hands and feet visible. Seven swords lie scattered across a patterned floor in front of him. The coffin interior is lined with pale fabric and bears carved letters on the lid. Behind the coffin a vase with wilting flowers and a small dish of smoldering incense send up a thin curl of smoke against a dark background.
