Description
Enveloped by moonlight and the rising tide, the character within The Moon grasps a wooden ladder that ascends into the sky. A sense of mystery permeates the fog as the crescent moon begins to spotlight the scene below. Reaching desperately toward the Heavens, the character begs for guidance in his helpless state. The ladder, with a finite end to nowhere, will eventually sink back to the water's depths with the character in tow.
Metaphor
This performance is a metaphor, illustrating the experience of Sleep Paralysis, where individuals enter a space that exists between the realm of sleep and consciousness. Upon entering, individuals are met with feelings of breathlessness, drowning, and distress.
Reflection
After waking, there is little to no expression for how to describe the isolation of an internal battle between the subconscious along with the impossibility of rejuvenating sleep. The visuals within The Moon express symbolism that is common within my sleep related creations.
