14 The Preacher

I will be open minded and kind to others.

The binary suns beat down on her ramshackle church. She stands smiling at the front of her congregation, her sermon about to begin. This planet is home to an extraordinary variation of alien species and the Preacher makes sure everyone feels welcome. She doesn’t care if they worship a flying spaghetti monster or the cold vacuum of space. They are her flock and she will give them hope.

The Preacher is always there for her people, regardless of where they come from or what they believe. She has no time for judgement or exclusion, and wants to create a safe place for people when they need her charity. The Preacher wants to help this dusty town on the edge of the galaxy become a better place. Whatever you believe, the Preacher encourages you to see the best in others and help them when you can. Does someone in your life need a little generosity right now? It could be financial, but it could also be listening to them with empathy, giving them some attention and love, or letting them know you’re there for them when they need it. Even the small things make a difference and help make this planet a better place.

Our brains can be tribal and we can fall into an 'us or them' mentality. See if you can catch this happening to you, and try to empathise with the other person's perspective.

If someone wants to give you charity or help you out, accept it graciously. We all need help sometimes!
