Every tiny action taken in the pursuit of growth is a powerful step in the right direction.

There is so much in the world that needs help and saving, and all of it can quickly become overwhelming. Do you give to charities and how many? Do you volunteer and, if so, how much time? Do you shout out loud for every single movement, frustration or challenge happening in the world? Many people ask questions such as these every single day, wondering how to make a difference in a world that seems to be crumbling apart. Perhaps this is the larger manifestation of what many of us experience internally. You might wonder how to make a difference in the world while also making a difference in yourself. Perhaps there is so much you’d like to accomplish in your personal life but, just as with saving the planet or speaking up for social injustice, you aren’t sure where to start. The answer is to give where you can. Perhaps you can’t save an entire species of birds all by yourself but you can put out birdseed to support the feathered friends in your area. It may not seem like much, but every little step is a step in the right direction.

The same is true when it comes to your goals and healing your wounds: do what you can when you can. Perhaps all you can do today is spend five minutes brainstorming an idea, but that means you’ve deposited five minutes towards pushing the needle forward. Maybe you aren’t ready to confront your traumas just yet but you are taking steps to research a therapist or mentor who may be able to guide you. Every little bit helps and every contribution counts.
