The Thirteenth Esbat

For many, great gatherings take place under the full moon. The witches come together and observe the Esbat. They dance, heal, and teach each other the ways of the psyche, the subtle weaving of energies, the sharing of rites to bring about justice. For the solitary witch, the connections are rare and soulful. The full moon, alone, is her greatest sweetness and joy. She revels in the fullness within, the silent communion with a celestial body, the light her body drinks in, the wonder of the night under her silvered presence.

This Esbat, she circles with sisters seen, sisters unseen, and their whispered knowledge. After she has danced up the energy and sung her own song to the moon, she settles into quiet trance to receive the messages of her witch ancestors. They come to her, speaking softly of new ways to weave into the old healing arts and small practices to refine her craft. Sometimes they take her hand, and the unseen ones lead her to a faery ring, a sacred grove, or a healing place where something special can be found. A herb, a stone, a bone, a flower — all can be sacred. All have their healing purpose.

She reveres the moon, for the light of this silver goddess is the energy they ride on. Sometimes she feels her body rise with them and travel. And she not only sees into other places so far away, but she moves between the dimensions of past, present, and future until she begins to understand the best course, and the most favorable actions to take.

And then she ensures she remembers — for this Esbat, every word spoken by the coven sisters in spirit will be thought of, again and again, until all meaning becomes clear. So open up to the energies of those beyond this dimension, and discover sweet soul sisters of covens past and future.
