Information plus seduction. The Pied Piper of Hamelin. Sweet-voiced Sirens. Once upon a time, rats came to the city of Hamelin. They caused countless disasters for the city's inhabitants. Then appeared a rat-catcher who undertook to rid the city of trouble.
The Legend
The magistrate made a contract with him, obligating to pay 1000 thalers if he could rid the city of rats. The rat-catcher played his magic flute and the rats came out of their holes, entered the river and drowned.
The Betrayal
But the greedy magistrate did not want to pay the Piper the sum due to him. Then the Piper cruelly repaid the inhabitants of Hamelin: he played his flute again and all the children obediently went with him and disappeared forever from Hamelin.
