The Elder.

A wise elder holding a book containing sacred knowledge, the wisdom of ages. At his feet, on a stack of books, sits an hourglass (Saturn - time that devours its children). A skull represents the transience of existence. A staff at the Master's feet speaks of distant journeys and years and distances left behind. The Elder has comprehended the mysteries of being; behind him, above the peaks of mountains stretching beyond the horizon, a path (portal) with a crown has opened - a symbol of transition to spiritual enlightenment. This card corresponds to Capricorn and its ruler - Saturn.

Saturn is the last planet of the septenary, guardian at the boundary between visible and invisible worlds; a Roman deity corresponding to the Greek Chronos (time). Folk etymology brought this concept close to the image of Cronus, one of the Titans, father of Zeus, which is why Cronus was attributed control over time. He himself becomes the embodiment of all-consuming time. Everything is born and disappears in time, just as Cronus's children are born and destroyed by him.

Striving for knowledge. Understanding the transience of being. Concentration. Respect for age and experience. There is no social position, only the fact of acknowledging universal law.

Elder - experience. Book - knowledge. Hourglass - time that devours its children. Skull - transience of existence. Path (portal) with crown - transition to spiritual enlightenment.

Positive meanings: an elderly person possessing great life experience. Negative meanings: conservative, skeptic.

He who increases knowledge increases sorrow. The mood will be terrible. No desire to see or hear anyone. Immersion in oneself. Possibly - Asceticism. In ordinary life, possible communication with higher-ranking officials.

What will come easily today, without strain. Dedicate this day to studying your inner state, spend time alone. Learn to love this condition.

What conclusions must be drawn today. Realize the brevity of life. 'Blessed are obstacles, for through them we grow.' (Agni Yoga).

Value time. Learn to concentrate on the main thing, casting aside everything else.

Everyone around you today sees you as a Sage. Try to justify their expectations!

Solitude. Orientation toward eternal, enduring values. Certain conservatism. Understanding of law as a cosmic order.

Limitation, asceticism, rejection of life's pleasures for eternal values. Isolation from the surrounding world, withdrawal into oneself, detachment, separation from the inner world, search for wisdom. In the soul awakens an old man: what was, will be, and this too shall pass; nothing new. Pessimism. Taking responsibility for one's actions, one's life. Maturation.

Will proceed with difficulty, slowly, with friction. Hard to stir up, to get moving. Tendency toward delays. Lateness, postponements.

Loneliness, even together. Coolness, solitude. Absence of audience (interlocutor), mutual understanding. The Elder needs no partner. Callousness, coldness. Lack of mutual understanding.

Do not allow inaction. In seeking perfection, one can completely stop developing. One must not break away from the collective and not let people close.

Value time. Focus, concentrate on the main thing (Saturn - concentration); on what will never lose value. Do not be distracted by the temptations of petty life. Learn, teach others.

More than modest. In the end comes understanding that even this was unnecessary. A person comes to understand that one cannot escape destiny and must take responsibility for their fate alone - no one else can influence it.

A wise elder, mature, having achieved great knowledge. He has accomplished much, he is above the mountains.
