Children of Litha tarot
The Children of Litha Tarot was created by Alexandria Huntington, an independent writer and illustrator (BFA in Illustration from the Academy of Art University, San Francisco) who goes by the artist name Xia Hunt. The deck was a four-year labor of love, brought to life through Kickstarter. It is the first deck in "The Children of The Wheel" series — an ambitious plan for 8 decks total (4 tarot, 4 oracle) exploring humankind's relationship with nature through the lens of the Wheel of the Year. The sister deck, Children of Ostara, followed. Huntington created each card through specialized meditation and intentional manifestation, hand-illustrating every image specifically for tarot.

The artwork is richly detailed, hand-illustrated with vibrant, saturated colors. The figures are animal-human hybrids — mythological creatures that blur the line between human and primal nature. The imagery draws from cross-cultural mythology and folklore, creating a diverse visual language that feels both ancient and fresh. The Major Arcana features these hybrid beings embodying universal archetypes, while the court cards deliberately include empowering representations of people from diverse racial backgrounds. Cards have a matte finish, are highly durable, and shuffle smoothly. Available in both a standard edition and a Black Edition with dark backgrounds.
Core Concept & Symbolism
A Rider-Waite-Smith-based deck with 80 cards — the standard 78 plus two original bonus cards: "The All" and "The Void," representing totality and emptiness. The primary inspiration is exploring the sacred relationship between humanity and nature, influenced by ancient mythologies. The deck seeks to unite the human and the primal, suggesting that our divine potential lies in reconnecting with natural forces. The name "Litha" refers to the summer solstice sabbat, connecting the deck to the Wheel of the Year and seasonal magic.
Reading Experience
Community reception is overwhelmingly positive — described as having 100% glowing reviews. The packaging alone generates excitement: decks arrive carefully wrapped with dried lavender and a crystal tied with ribbon, taking five minutes to unwrap. The card quality is praised as some of the best in independent tarot. Readers report that readings sometimes don't feel relevant in the moment but prove prophetic later — the deck "gives advice you need before you know you need it." The art is described as soul-affirming, and reviewers note the deck inspires deep reflection despite its vibrant, colorful appearance. No AI was used in any part of the deck's creation.
