Crystal unicorns tarot
The Crystal Unicorn Tarot was created by Pamela Chen and illustrated by Lisa Higuchi, first published in February 2017, funded through Indiegogo. Chen is a spiritual life coach, healer, and deck creation expert who co-owns Luna Prosperity, an online crystal boutique. She also created the Witchling Academy Tarot (published by Llewellyn) and runs a Deck Creation Course helping other creators bring their decks to life. The Crystal Unicorn Tarot also has a companion coloring book.

Lisa Higuchi's illustrations are in a kawaii (cute) style with watercolor and ink — heartwarming, with a childlike wonder that invokes joy. The color palette is soft pastels with rainbow accents. Unicorns replace the human figures from traditional tarot while maintaining most standard RWS symbolism. The overall aesthetic is gentle, safe, and bright — pastel rainbows, crystals, and adorable unicorn characters. Cards have a matte finish with no shiny glare. The box features a beautiful pastel rainbow watercolor design.
Core Concept & Symbolism
An RWS-based deck where unicorns with crystal affinities replace the human figures. Each Major Arcana card features a corresponding crystal, and each Minor Arcana suit is associated with a specific crystal type. This dual-system approach (tarot + crystal healing) creates a unique layered reading experience. The deck deliberately invokes the magic-loving inner child — "lets the unicorns and rainbows loving child in you become the Oracle."
Reading Experience
Despite the cute aesthetic, reviewers consistently affirm it as "a completely valid tarot deck to use for readings." The kawaii art provides a sense of emotional safety, making it especially effective for readings with people who are apprehensive about tarot — "these cards are comforting and definitely not scary." The card size is praised as comfortable and easy to shuffle. The crystal correspondences add an extra interpretive dimension for readers who work with both tarot and crystal healing. Benebell Wen provided a detailed positive review noting the deck's functional depth beneath its cute surface.
