The Faun dances carefree in spite of the propaganda the modern world perpetuates against Him. He knows that His is the dance that leads witches to untold power and opportunity, and He inspires us to truly be free. He wanders the Forest of uncertainty, aware that behind every tree can be hidden dangers, or luscious fruit. The Forest also protects, it shades us from the harshness of the Sun, and its canopy shields us from the rain. The Faun is the fearless wanderer, the Untamed Lord Who shows us the power of instinct. We must only be brave enough to chase the Faun Who is ever present within us all. He is a risk taker because He is confident in the power He contains.

When in the invoked position, the Faun indicates the journey has started and you are entering a new beginning. Now is the time to join the ecstatic dance, to take risks that could yield reward, and to cut the ties that bind and hold you back. He makes us seek out our instincts and trust they will steer us toward freedom and happiness. You may desire to start a new undertaking and this is the card of manifesting our desires, or rather, the potential to manifest them, the swirling ether around us from which we make real our potential. Do not approach your new path or venture disregarding your inexperience; trust in the advice of those more experienced than you and your path will be full of success! You dare to dream, to be inspired, and to let your passion guide you and when done wisely, it can make all your dreams come true!

✦ Banished Position

However, if in the banished position, the Faun indicates that your ventures will prove unsuccessful. The arrogance of inexperience has gotten the best of you and an 'I do what I want' attitude has been deemed hubris to the Fates. Your current path is the wrong one. You can either listen to guidance or disregard it and get lost in your own forest. When the Faun is banished, He cannot guide you and your instincts are wrong. You are defeated by panic and you must calm yourself. Take a step back from the wood’s edge and take the time to plan your path.
