Description of the Image

She is crouched down, burying her face in her knees. Her eyes are lowered, hiding from the radiance pouring out from a window made of liquid multicolored light above her. Its beauty and color are a reminder of what she needs; she feels monotony and is devastated by the comparison. The dragon seems to herald joy, mocking her and demanding humility. Only the thorny ground embraces her. She reaches out to it with spiny tendrils, and she recoils from them. She feels loneliness, despite sharp pain, seeing neither the soul fluttering close to her fingertips nor other eyes watching from the shadows.

Descriptor of Apathy and Disconnection

She does not notice her surroundings, deliberately isolating herself from the outside world, as well as unknowingly blocking her inner self. Her spirit cries out for needs she ignores. Or perhaps she simply doesn't understand what she truly desires, so alienated is she from her body and the signals of her spirit. Disconnection has occurred.

Meaning

The 5 of Pentacles points to spiritual need, material problems, unreliability, and difficult times. There is neglect of bodily needs, a sense of exile and exclusion, and loss. But salvation is near if you can forge that connection and see past mental and physical blockades. Even the thorny bush she considers her sole companion has flowers.
