Six of Pentacles
The Six of Pentacles represents generosity, charity, and the restoration that follows loss, symbolized by a reindeer sharing winter's fruits with cardinals. It follows the fear and deprivation of the Five, offering warmth, selfless giving, and relief to those burdened. Upright, it encourages altruism, random acts of kindness, and lightening someone else's load. Reversed, it warns of giving beyond your means or withholding generosity, both of which are harmful.

Poem
To give comfort and rest to someone too weary to fly may give one's own spirit the strength to soar high.
Meaning
We can only truly appreciate the value of charity once we have lost something ourselves. After the fear and hopelessness of the Five comes the warmth and generosity of the Six of Pentacles. This card depicts a reindeer amidst winter, letting the cardinals rest atop his antlers and partake the last of winter's fruit. Like the winter holidays, this card is a reminder of the joys of selfless giving.
In Reverse
In reverse, this card could indicate either that you are giving beyond your means or that you are not giving at all, both of which are detrimental.
Upright Keywords
charity, generosity, altruism, random acts of kindness, lightening someone else's load
Reversed Keywords
giving too much, being manipulative, ulterior motives, debt, selfishness, overpromising, over-extending, invasive or insulting generosity
Visual Description
An oval vignette shows a large stag or caribou standing in a snowy landscape with sweeping antlers that curl like branches. Six round coins or disks decorated with star-like pentacle patterns are nestled among the antler tines, and three red cardinals perch on and among the antlers. Snow falls lightly, pale moonlight or a low sun glows behind the antlers, and frosted pine boughs frame the scene. A small banner at the top of the oval reads the Roman numeral VI and the image is bordered by a thin gold frame.
