The Emperor embodies archetypal masculine authority as protector and provider, representing structure, leadership, and stability. He is depicted with a sword confidently slaying his prey, indicating decisiveness and the acceptance that destruction can be necessary. The Emperor
Poem
I protect, I provide, I give without slight and if I destroy, it's because that is my right. I own the weak, the strong, the timid and coy. I own the man, the woman, the girl, and the boy. Bend to my will and all shall be well. Defy me though, and your defeat I'll befall.
Meaning
The Emperor is the most masculine card in the deck. He can represent the "protector" or "provider," which is made evident by his sword confidently slaying his prey. The Emperor, in his most actualized state, does not take pride in destruction although he acknowledges its necessity.

However, one must beware. His shadow-self reveals a sadistic, tyrannical ruler, enjoying the role of "destroyer" or "oppressor."
