Story
In the First Book of Samuel, Saul, the first King of Israel, disguised himself and sought the help from the Medium of Endor to call up the ghost of Samuel from his grave. The ghost emerged and angrily demanded to know why he was disturbed. Saul, who had been ignored by God and the prophets due to his disobedience, then beseeched the prophet for guidance. But instead of offering help, Samuel reproached Saul for disobeying God and presaged the defeat of his army at the hands of the Philistines. Samuel's dominating posture reflects defiance. He glowers at Saul, who is surrounded by swirls of chaos. Faces of tormented souls are reminders of the sadness of war. All is ablaze in heated contention.
